²⁷ He is the one coming after me,^[a](A) whose sandal strap I’m not worthy to untie.’ ²⁸ All this happened in Bethany^[b] across the Jordan,^(B) where John was baptising.

²⁹ The next day John saw Jesus coming towards him and said, ‘Look, the Lamb of God,^(C) who takes away the sin^(D) of the world!
