Proverbs 13:8-10

⁸ Riches are a ransom for a person’s life,^(A)
but a poor person hears no threat.

⁹ The light of the righteous shines brightly,^(B)
but the lamp of the wicked is put out.^(C)

¹⁰ Arrogance leads to nothing but strife,^(D)
but wisdom is gained by those who take advice.
